(Documentary Teaser)
Artists are here to disturb the peace. - James Baldwin
art | Melanated, a highly stylized documentary film, will be an art piece in and of itself. Like the artists featured, this motion picture will be used as a potent way to speak truth to power, to explore and critique an antiquated art world while suggesting an alternate path that is both inclusive and inevitable.
The film’s artists hold up an uncomfortable mirror to society and force us to reflect and rethink life as we know it and shed light on often ignored societal issues.
Now is a pivotal time for both documentaries and Black Art and film makers Sol & Jennia Aponte are perfectly suited to document this period with honesty and integrity.
art | Melanated tells a powerful, captivating story through use of multi media platform that will include animation and gorgeous reenactments as we dive into today’s world of painters, sculptors, curators, and collectors.
